Angels Soar Past Rangers 10-2

The Los Angeles Angels used their hot bats to soar past the Texas Rangers 10-2 this afternoon. Hector Santiago got the start for the Angels and was able to cruise through the lineup. He pitched 7 innings allowing 4 hits while striking out 5.

The offense started early as the Halos pushed 6 runs across in the 2nd inning. Johnny Giavotella started things out with a 2-run single that scored David Freese and Chris Iannetta. Erick Aybar followed up with a sacrifice to third that scored Collin Cowgill.

Albert Pujols hit a single that brought in Giavotella, and Matt Joyce followed up with a double to center field that scored Mike Trout and Pujols. The Angels used the 6-0 lead to their advantage and never looked back.

In the fourth inning Trout hit a RBI single to score Giavotella to give the Halos a 7-0 advantage. In the fifth inning Carlos Corporan hit a solo shot to right that put the Rangers on the board, 7-1.

In the 6th inning the Angels were at it again, this time Pujols hit a RBI single that score Aybar. Freese followed with a 2-run single that scored Trout and Pujols.

In the 9th inning Adam Rosales hit a solo shot to left center and the Angels won 10-2.

For Anthony Ranaudo had a short outing. He lasted just 1.2 innings allowing 6 hits, and 6 runs while striking 2. Anthony Bass came on to replace him and pitched 3.2 innings. He allowed 4 hits, 4 runs, and struck out 4.

This game will wrap up the series. The Halos will take on the Houston Astros on the road on Friday night.
