Angels Use Big 6th Inning To Take Care Of Mariners 10-3

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim used a 6 run 6th inning to beat the Seattle Mariners 10-3 Sunday afternoon. The Halos  head into the All-Star break in first place in the AL West by 1/2 a game.

Andrew Heaney got the start for the Angels. He pitched 7 innings allowing 5 hits and 0 runs. He struck out 6 and walked 1 as he picked up his 3 win of the season.

For the Mariners Taijuan Walker got the start. He struggled in his outing as he pitched just 5 innings allowing 7 hits and 7 runs only 6 of them were earned. He did strike out 7 but he 7th loss of the season.

The Angels got on the board in the second inning when Matt Joyce reached on a Robinson Cano throwing error. This allowed Erick Aybar to score and the Angels held the 1-0 lead. David Freese was able to score on a wild pitch and after 2 innings the Halos lead 2-0.

Aybar got the offense rolling in the 3rd inning with a RBI double that brought in Mike Trout. Aybar was to reach in the 6th inning due to an error that brought Trout in again.

Freese hit a RBI double to center field that brought in Albert Pujols and Aybar to continue the offense in the 6th. Daniel Robertson reached on a fielder’s choice that brought in Fresse. Chris Iannetta hit his 5th homer of the year, a 2-run shot and the Angels held a 9-0 advantage.

In the 8th inning Trout grounded to second but brought in Giavotella and the Halos lead 10-0.

Dustin Ackley grounded out but drove in Austin Jackson to put the M’s on the board. Kyle Seager followed with a RBI single and the M’s trailed 10-2.

In the 9th inning Seth Smith hit a pinch hit home run and the Halos held on to beat the M’s 10-3.

The Angels head into the All-Star break with a 48-40 record. They will take on the Boston Red Sox on Friday at home.
