The Los Angeles Lakers fell to the Portland Trailblazers, 107-77. Jordan Clarkson put up yet another impressive performance, but the Blazers’ hot shooting was the hindrance.

The Los Angeles Lakers looked to regain their competitive form against the Portland Trailblazers, after their blowout loss to the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday night.

Damian Lillard started off on fire, making three 3-pointers for 11 points to give the Blazers a 15-8 advantage halfway through the first quarter. The Lakers shot a terrible 26% from the field and trailed by 14 after the first quarter, 26-12. In the second quarter, the Blazers’ lead ballooned to as much as 25 – but a late run by Jordan Clarkson (18 points) cut the lead to 14 into the locker room, 52-39. In the third quarter, the Lakers hung around but still trailed by double digits entering the fourth quarter, 74-63. The Blazers eventually pulled away in the fourth quarter and defeated the Lakers, 107-77.

The Lakers shot 38% from the field and 36% from beyond the arc. Jordan Clarkson, who was named Western Conference Rookie of the Month, put up yet another impressive performance with 27 points, seven rebounds and five assists. Wesley Johnson scored 11 points and grabbed 15 rebounds, tying his career-high.

The Blazers completed their season sweep of the Lakers since the 1993-1994 season. They were on fire all game long, with five players scoring in double figures. CJ McCollum led the Blazers with 27 points off the bench, followed by Damian Lillard’s 20 points and five assists.

With tonight’s loss, the Lakers fall to a 20-55 record – tying last season’s losses and possibly finish the season with the worst record in franchise history.

The Lakers will face their hometown rival Clippers to conclude a three-game home stand on Sunday night, 6:30PM PST.
