Ducks Struggles Continue Against Tampa, Fall 2-1

@AnaheimCalling

The Anaheim Ducks struggles continued against the Tampa Bay Lightning as they fell 2-1 on Wednesday night. With last night being Star Wars night at the Pond, the force was not with them.

Last night’s loss marks the third in their last four games. The Ducks were looking forward to returning home but things have not faired as well since their return.

In the first period there were no goals scored. Tampa did outshoot the Ducks 8-5 in the period and had a few great opportunities.

The second period was full of excitement. Jonathan Drouin scored a wrist goal to get the Lightning on the board. The goal was assisted by Vladislav Namestnikov and Jason Garrison. It was his second goal of the year.

Corey Perry answered back with two minutes later with a wrist shot goal of his own. His goal was assisted by Ryan Getzlaf and Rickard Rakell. For Perry it was his ninth goal of the year.

At the end of the period Jonathan Marchessault scored a power play goal with a slap shot. Drouin and Valtteri Filppula were credited with the assist. For Marchessault it was his second goal of the year.

Anaheim was unable to score in the final period and they fell 2-1. Up next for the Ducks they will face off against the San Jose Sharks at home on Friday night.

They have three more games left on this home stand before they head out for a four game road trip.
