Game Recap: Miami Dolphins 37 San Diego Chargers 0

The San Diego Chargers fell violently to the Miami Dolphins in Miami on Sunday, 0-37. To pretty much sum up the game for Charger fans, whatever could go wrong for the bolts did go wrong.

Both sides of the ball, offense and defense, struggled in multiple different areas. The offense would turnover the ball too much (4) while having a total offensive day of just 178 yards. When the running game was not working, the Chargers went to the passing game which only resulted in minimal gains and multiple turnovers mainly focused around quarterback, Philip Rivers.

On the other side, the Chargers’ defense gave up a whopping 37 points while allowing a total of 441 yards of offense. Not to mention, the Chargers were unable to force any turnovers off the Dolphins and were unable to pressure quarterback, Ryan Tannehill, as the Charger defense would account for 0 sacks for the day.

The game, itself, would actually start off slow with the Dolphins getting their first score with just over a minute left in the quarter on a 6-yard touchdown pass from Tannehill to tight end, Charles Clay.

The second quarter would feature much more offensive firepower…but just by the Dolphins as they would score another touchdown by running it in with running back, Lamar Miller and then grabbing a couple field goals within the quarter to make the score at the half, 0-20.

Like the second quarter, the third quarter would feature more of an aggressive Dolphins’ offense. The Dolphins would start out with a 21-yard touchdown pass to receiver, Rishard Matthews which would be followed up by another short field goal by Dolphins’ kicker, Caleb Sturgis, and then finally they would end the quarter with a 14-yard touchdown pass to Jarvis Landry.

The score would now be 0-37 after the third quarter which would actually be the final score of the game as the backups for both teams would now make their way into the game.

It would be a very disappointing game for the Chargers as this would now mark their 3rd straight loss going into their bye week. What has seemed to look like an elite offense in the first part of the year has now degraded quickly into an offense who is just unsure what their identity is.

The Chargers will return to action with two home games against below average teams in the Oakland Raiders and the St.Louis Rams. Hopefully, these will be the two games that will give the bolts their confidence back because, right now, they are playing with absolutely zero confidence.
