We like to start our day searching the web and reading articles about our beloved LA sports teams. It’s easy to get lost in the depth of the inter web, but luckily for you we have compiled a list of the most interesting and pertinent news stories for your morning reading pleasure. For this edition, let’s dive into the news surrounding the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Los Angeles Lakers were unable to beat the Utah Jazz tonight. They lost 94-85:

“The Lakers were without Kobe Bryant tonight, following a record breaking night last night against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Swaggy P brought in 23 points off the bench tonight. Jordan Hill was also able to add 16 points. Nick Young had an impressive night without teammate Kobe Bryant. He went 13 of 13 from the free throw line, meaning he attempted three more free throws than the Jazz did as a team.

The Lakers captured the lead quickly in the second quarter after Young converted a three-point play to put the Lakers up 34-32. It wasn’t until Hayward and Favors’ layups during a 7-0 run which handed Utah the lead again. Hill had back-to-back jumpers in the right before halftime to give the Lakers a 41-39 lead. But Rudy Gobert converted a three-point play which allowed the Jazz to take the lead 44-43 at the end of the second.”

Bleacher Report dishes out grades for Byron Scott:

“With the Los Angeles Lakers on track to lose even more games than last year, it seems an apt time to hand out some midterm grades for their latest head coach, Byron Scott.

The former Showtime shooting guard and one-time Coach of the Year (New Orleans Hornets, 2008) was welcomed back to Lakerland on a tide of nostalgia and good intentions—he would be the anti-Mike D’Antoni and bring a defensive mindset as well as a long relationship with aging superstar Kobe Bryant.

How has it all worked out so far? Bryant’s swan song tour has been a bumpy ride, but there are nights when he turns back the clock—like Thursday against LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Bryant had 19 points and a career-high 17 assists for one of his most complete games in recent history, despite the Lakers’ eventual 109-102 loss.”
