The Los Angeles Kings continued their road trip as they headed down to the Sunshine State to take on the Florida Panthers tonight. It has been a struggle for the reigning Stanley Cup Champions this season as they are currently fighting for a playoff spot. Tonight was much of the same story as the Kings fell to the Panthers 3-2.

As usual the Kings fell behind early once again. Rich Hammond of the OC register reported that tonight was the fifth consecutive game that the Kings fell behind early.

Aleksander Barkov scored a slap shot goal that was assisted by Brad Boyes and Jonathan Huberdeau. The Kings responded back nicely after Jamie McBain scored a slap shot goal that was assisted by Dustin Brown and Marian Gaborik. The first period ended with the game tied at one apiece as the Kings outshot their opponents 14-8.

In the second period both teams were unable to put the puck in the back of net. For the Kings they outshot the Panthers once again this time 8-5.

The third period was full of excitement. Gaborik scored a goal that was assisted by Anze Kopitar and Jake Muzzin early in the period. Hammond reported that this was the first time the Kings had a lead on the road in quite some time.

The lead was short-lived as Nick Bjugstad scored a goal to tie the game at 2 apiece. Late in the third period Brandon Pirri smashed a slap shot past Jonathan Quick that was assisted by Tomas Fleischmann. This goal would serve to be the game winner as the Kings woes continue.

The Kings will try to regroup as they play the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday afternoon.
