Recap: Dodgers 3 – Padres 0, Pitching and Timely Hitting Propel Dodgers to 2-0

Coming into the 2016 season there were a lot of questions about the Dodgers pitching staff behind Clayton Kershaw after the Arizona Diamondbacks signed Zack Greinke away from the Los Angeles Dodgers during the off-season. After the team passed on Hisashi Iwakuma because of his physicians the Dodgers signed Scott Kazmir to a three-year contract on December 30th. After the signing Dodger fans were wary because of Kazmir’s injury history and then a subpar Spring Training and perceived loss in pitch velocity he came into his first official start with a lot of questions.

Well questions asked and answered, Kazmir only gave up a one hit, had 5 strikeouts and didn’t allow a walk in 6 innings. After he came out the bullpen shut things down.

The heroes with the bat today were Corey Seager who scored 1 run and collected 3 hits, 2 singles and a double and Yasiel Puig who collected 2 RBI’s with a triple to right-centerfield in the 4th with men on 2nd and 3rd.

The Dodgers are now 2-0 and have outscored the San Diego Padres 18-0 over their first two games.

Game 3 of the season is today with Kenta Maeda‘s first Major League start vs the Andrew Cashner, a 6:10pm start at PetCo, see you there.
