SuperCharger MVP – San Diego Chargers Week 7

http://gty.im/459739409

It was a hard-fought game Sunday afternoon game between the San Diego Chargers and the Kansas City Chiefs but the Chiefs would squeeze in a long field goal at the end of the game to pull out the victory, 23-20. The Chiefs would be the last one with the ball which would be the deciding factor in this tight matchup between AFC foes.

A usual top candidate for SuperCharger MVP of the week is quarterback, Philip Rivers, but Rivers would not put up spectacular numbers like he has been all season against the Chiefs. Rivers would miss some throws which would lead to only having 205 yards passing, 2 touchdowns, and a last hope interception at the end of the game.

Some of Rivers’ targets like tight end, Antonio Gates, and receiver, Keenan Allen, would have descent games though. Gates would have 3 receptions for 61 receiving yards and a touchdown. Keenan Allen would have the most looks of the day by being targeted 10 times where Allen would take advantage of 6 of them for 58 receiving yards.

Both, the Chargers’ and Chiefs’ defenses, played very well and kept giving their offenses another shot for points. This made for a great game to watch as there would be several lead changes throughout the game.

As a result of the Chargers’ defense playing so well, this is the side of the ball where the SuperCharger MVP will have to go to for the week. In particular, we have to choose a usual leader for the Chargers’ defense, safety, Eric Weddle.

Weddle was all over the field making great form tackles throughout the entire game. Weddle would have a total of 13 tackles but, most importantly, Weddle would record 10 of those tackles all on his own. That, right there, demonstrates Weddle’s ability to make open field tackles when one on one with an offensive player.

While Weddle was our SuperCharger MVP of week seven, who will be the SuperCharger in week eight which is on Thursday night football against the NFL all-time leading touchdown passer, Peyton Manning, and the rest of his Denver Broncos?
